What Are Your Mattresses Made Of?
We tend to use high-quality materials, including cotton, wool, horsehair, and Talalay latex. Cotton and wool are more common mattress materials, but are still water-resistant, microbe-resistant, and naturally fire resistant. Horsehair is a luxury material featured prominently in our Organic Luxe Mattress for a smooth and silky feel. Latex, the primary material in our Organic Harmony mattress, is completely mold-resistant and will not provoke allergic reactions. We source our materials as organically as possible without harmful chemicals to provide an anxiety-free, restful night of sleep.
How Often Should I Replace My Mattress?
The average lifespan of a mattress is between seven and ten years, but a lot depends on the quality of the mattress, the care you provide your mattress, and the level of craftsmanship that produced it. However, some mattresses might reach their end even earlier than that. Look for sags or lumps more than two inches deep or high, because those are signs that the mattress has become too old.
Thanks to Gardner’s pre-compressed upholstery, our mattresses are designed to live longer so you can sleep soundly for years to come.
How Can I Protect My Mattress?
The first step is to make sure your bedframe properly supports your mattress. The wrong support might encourage more sags and lumps or may leave the mattress vulnerable to breaks or early wear. Speak with us for the best advice on what support your mattress might need.
Purchasing a mattress protector will improve the mattress’s water resistance, reducing anxieties about spills or accidents. It will also keep natural body oil and sweat off the mattress, which will help preserve the life of the mattress and make it even harder for dust mites to infest your resting place.
You should also make sure you regularly wash your linens, removing any bacteria and dust mites that may be hiding in your bed.
And this should go without saying, but you should never jump on your bed.
How Should I Clean My Mattress?
Vacuuming the surface of the mattress every few months with a hose will pick up quite a few pests or dust particles that may have accumulated. Depending on the material of the mattress you select, we may have advice on how to best remove stains.
How Often Should I Flip Or Rotate My Mattress?
Flipping and rotating your mattress is key to getting the most out of your mattress for as long as possible. You should flip or rotate your mattress every 3 to 6 months, or whenever you detect a sag or lump developing.
