With over 120 years of combined experience, our master craftsmen have a wealth of knowledge in regard to building a mattress to suit our client’s needs. Two features that are not often found in our competitor’s products are the hand-tufted components and the ability of many of our mattress products to be flipped, or used on both sides.
Hand-tufting is a proven upholstery method that compresses all of the materials used to fill mattresses. Tufting is a necessity when using natural fibers such as cotton, wool, and horse hair. When materials are compressed they are held together with the use of an anchor (the tuft) which is done by using a long needle to compress the product. This practice allows the mattress layers to hold their shape and remain taut and compressed. For the layperson, that means your mattress won’t have impressions where the hips, shoulders, or head lays throughout the night.
Additionally, Gardner’s handcrafted mattresses mean that many of our bedding products are still upholstered on both sides so that you can get years of supportive, comfortable sleep on our flippable products.
