Mattress Rotating and Flipping (Video)

Kirk Forsyth of Gardner Mattress talks about whether or not you can flip and rotate modern mattresses, and when and how often you should rotate your mattress.

Should I flip and rotate a modern mattress?

Actually today most mattresses on the market are all one-sided so you can’t flip them. We still make about 65 or 70 percent are still flippable products. We feel like it’s a really good value to have the ability to be able to flip a mattress.

I always tell people there’s a difference between have to and can’t or can. You don’t necessarily have to flip a mattress. We highly recommend you do if you have the ability to … You have a product that can flip. You’ll just get much, much better wear out of it.

I feel like major brand or national brand bedding went to a one-sided mattress because they wanted them to breakdown a little faster. They want you to buy a mattress not every 10 or 15 years but maybe every five or seven. We’re seeing lifespans of more national products really starting to drop. Flipping a mattress you get a little bit … Well you get a lot more for your money.

If you have a two-side mattress, how often should you rotate it?

Every three or four months I would recommend either flipping it or rotating it. The flipping is probably more important than the rotation but both are important. You’ll just get much better wear out of it.
