Featured Organic Materials in Our Mattresses
At Gardner Mattress, we take pride in the organic materials we use to create our hand-crafted mattresses. Many of them are flame-resistant and/or allergen-free without needing treatment from chemicals. All of this works together to create comfortable beds that will provide you with comfortable sleep for years.
Read on for a rundown of our featured organic materials and why you should consider using them in your hand-crafted mattress.
Organic Cotton Batting
Organic cotton batting provides the perfect amount of support and softness in any mattress it’s a part of. In fact, it’s the closest you’ll likely get to sleeping on a cloud with how easily you can sink into it.
However, softness isn’t the only benefit. It’s a breathable material that allows for good airflow, so it’s ideal for anyone who gets hot during the night.
Long Strand Mane and Tail Horsehair
You might not think of horsehair in a mattress, but it’s actually an extremely effective material for them. Long strand mane and tail horsehair is extremely long-lasting, durable, and is able to withstand a great deal of wear and tear, so it’s perfect to increase the lifespan of your mattress.
And the perks don’t stop there. It has a natural spring support and is a great insulator which regulates your temperature during the night. And if you’re someone who suffers from allergies, horsehair is naturally resistant to dust mites!
Natural Talalay Latex
For someone who likes softness and support, natural talalay latex is perfect for your mattress. It has an extremely springy feel, so it reduces motion transfer. This is ideal for restless sleepers who are worried about disturbing their partner.
Besides this, natural talalay latex is great for dry Massachusetts winters because it removes static electricity. You won’t have to deal with annoying static shocks when you’re trying to sleep. As for the summer, it also has cooling properties so you won’t get overheated.
Organic Flax
For anyone looking to live a vegan lifestyle, a mattress made with organic flax is exactly what you’re looking for. This plant-based material is strong, flexible, and soft so you don’t have to sacrifice comfort for your ethical lifestyle. You’ll sleep even better knowing that flax is also basically waste-free.
On top of being part of a greener lifestyle, organic flax offers superb sleep benefits. An insulator pad made of this material removes noise, vibration and static electricity. All of these things can disrupt light sleepers, so when your mattress contains flax, you may find yourself having one of the deepest sleeps of your life.
Organic New Zealand Wool
What could be better than counting sheep while sleeping on a mattress made with organic New Zealand wool? It’s a naturally strong material that holds its shape beautifully, so you won’t be experiencing sagging and indents while also enjoying maximum comfort.
Like horsehair, wool is also naturally hypoallergenic, as it creates an inhospitable environment for fungi, bacteria, dust mites, and other common allergens. Its temperature regulation is also top-notch; the wool traps air for insulation when it’s cold out but wicks moisture away when it’s hot.
Organic materials make amazing mattresses, especially when utilized by master craftsmen like us. If you’re looking for a new mattress, consider our Natural Sleep Collection featuring these great organic materials.
